Wreaths Across America July 4th Teach Curriculum Update

"These Are the Times That Try Men’s Souls"

With schools out for summer across the country, parents and caregivers of school-aged children may be thinking, or even saying those words made famous by Thomas Paine in 1776! But never fear, Wreaths Across America Teach Curriculum is here to save the day! Whether your child is interested in superheroes or everyday heroes that are super, we have learning materials available for students of all ages!

Make sure you check out our July 4th activities now available to learn about some of our nation’s superheroes, like Thomas Paine, from the American Revolution!

Summer is also a great time for young people to “Find A Way to Serve” in their local communities! With record inflation, and gas prices soaring, local food banks, shelters, and other agencies who help the poor need all the help they can get. Talking to your child about volunteering and helping them choose a project to help those who are less fortunate is a great way to instill values and good character! We have Action Plans to help young people of all ages find a project that will work for them. Click HERE to access the "Find A Way to Serve" Action Plans for grades K-12. WAA wants to know how our young people are "Finding A Way to Serve," please share your projects and pictures by sending an email to: teach@wreathsacrossamerica.org

We hope you will encourage the budding Historian in your household to take part in the Wreaths Across AmericaVeterans Oral History Project. Young people who complete the Veterans Oral History Project will receive a dog tag with their name and the name of their veteran. The interviewer’s name will go into a drawing out of all participants, for a trip to Maine, date to be determined, to place a dog tag on a tree in the balsam valley tip land in honor of their veteran, as part of theVeterans Remembrance Tree Program.

You don’t have to let these times try your soul, let WAA help your child set summer goals! Until next time,

Cindy Tatum
